Liver Cancer and Candida

Question: Dear Peoples,
Please inform me which of your products may help or assist with liver cancer and candida?
Thank you
Brother Mark Thurston
Answer: Mr. Thurston,
Cancer is a touchy subject and I am really not allowed to give that type of advice without you being a patient of mine. I can provide you with my cancer file. As far as Candida albicans (yeast) goes, we do not offer specific products for that. Personally I like a product called Aquaflora. I have used it with good success in my practice. You really should find a holistic practitioner in your area who can assist you in these areas.

Answer: Marcia,
Fruit in general is not a very good protein source and noni is no exception. Noni has less than 1/2 gram of protein per one ounce of juice.

Is there enough CoQ10 in Liquid Power?
September 22, 2007 by Dr. Marcus Ettinger

Question: We have been taking both your Liquid Power and Goji Juice for several months now. My husband is a recent cancer (b-cell lymphoma) survivor and has heart disease. I cannot determine from the ingredient list how much COQ-10 is in the Liquid Power. I am wondering if we need to add that to our morning “cocktail”.
We love your products Dr. E. and are both feeling wonderful!
Thank you for your assistance with our question!
Peggy Whitehead
Answer: Peggy,
There is not what I would consider a therapeutic dose of CoQ10 in our Liquid Power (50mg’s). In my opinion a therapeutic dose starts at or above 100mg’s. If you are looking to increase your dosage, 100-120mg’s a day would be my starting point.
I am glad that you like the products. E-mail me any time.

Which is better for me, liquid or capsule coral calcium?

Question: To whom it may concern; I would Like to know if your coral calcium capsules absorb as well as your liquid coral calcium, and if not, please provide me with the percentage that the body actually absorbs of each product. I am planning to make some purchases and would like to know which product would be best for me. Thank You very much for the Information.
Answer: Michelle,
Both liquid and capsule coral calcium are highly absorbable, it really comes down to preference. I hope this helps.

Can you give me some information on your Acai Max please.

9/18/2007 Question: Does Acai-Max have the pits and skins where the nutrients are supposed to be the highest? I’m thinking of ordering the product and I was trying to compare it to Monavie which has 19 fruits. I really want the best for my family but don’t want to go broke in the process. Also can young children take acai-berry juice.
Thank you,
Nancy Schempp
Answer: Dear Nancy,
Timely question; I just returned home 5 hours ago from spending 8 days in Belem, Brazil. This area is where all of the acai comes from.
The pit is never used and comprises from 88-90% percent of the berry. The remaining 10-12% is skin and pulp. Acai Max is 60% acai with pomegranate, red raspberry, black elderberry, and Amazonian camu camu. We are not like Mona Vie as we are not an MLM, we “DO” state the percentage of acai in our juice, and all of the fruits in our juice serve a purpose, not just there for taste or thickening purposes.
Kids can drink either Mona Vie or Acai Max.
I hope this helps. Look back to the Acai Max page in the coming days for a written and picture – show and tell – from our trip.
Sincerely,
Marcus Ettinger DC, BSc.
9/19/2007 Question: I recently contacted the Dr. from the forum on the quality of Acai Max as opposed to Monavie. In comparing the two products (Monavie or Acai-Max), I am trying to get the best product for the best price. Can you let me know what you think about the difference in processing. The Monavie people claim they flash FREEZE the berries within 24 hrs. of picking. Is your Acai Max processed the same way?
Thank you,
Nancy Schempp
A note to me from my friend.
Just a heads up , All of what was stated in that email is NOT 100% accurate. Monavie is the ONLY juice company that FLASH FREEZES the berries within 24 hours of picking them. The reason for this is because Fruit starts to lose its nutrition and ORAC value within 24 hours. The ORAC value ( Oxygen Reduction Absorption Capacity) started in the U.S. in 1991. It is the FDA’s way of measuring the nutrition in fruit. Before the ACAI berry was discovered Cranberries were the highest with 93 ORAC. ACAI from Monavie has 1027. Also, Monavie did tons of extensive research to pick the 19 Fruits they chose for the juice, it is not for thickening the juice only.
Also, the heart for Monavie and the MLM is to get your juice for free by enrolling 2 people on each leg. Then your juice is free. Otherwise yes it comes out to about $3 a day BUT it is the BEST juice out there and highly ironic that ALL the other juice companies compare themselves to Monavie. It’s totally up to you but it is clearly a choice between GOOD and BEST. Monavie is the best and highest ORAC, antioxident values out in the market .If you want more info please go to this site juicedocs.com
Answer: Nancy,
“It is processed 100% exactly the same.” Your friend has been indoctrinated into the MLM religion and only speaks the MLM propaganda. I could critique and correct many parts of her comment (ORAC & the FDA, Mona Vie is the only one, Extensive research on the 19 fruits, and Not for thickening) but that’s not the point here. I just returned from Brazil yesterday and 2 MonaVie reps were at the same factory as us checking out the operation (processing method and acai berries). Check back to our Acai Max page in the coming days for a complete debriefing of our trip with tons of acai pictures and lots of true data about acai.
Sincerely,
Marcus Ettinger DC, BSc.
Nancy: Thank you thank you thank you
Dr. E: You are welcome.
9/19/2007 From Nancy: I Ordered 24 bottles about two hours ago………The only thing I didn’t fully grasp is why Monavie has 19 fruits & Acai-Max has 5? They also claim that a lot of the nutrients are in the pulp/skin & seeds. I have been taking 220 mg of pure grape seed for over 10 years now and never get a cold or sniffle. I know it’s the seed that has a great deal of the nutrients. Of course if I could drink a lot of wine, that would do it too. LOL
The bottling of the Movavie is great, keeps it very cold, I just don’t know if I buy that it is necessary and I am really not interested in doing a pyramid with people paying for my juice. I feel if it is so good for people, make it affordable for everyone. What would we have done if Dr. Salk wanted to keep his price high on the polio vaccine? I want to see people healed of diseases that attack their bodies and I know the human body was made to heal itself. Stress is the biggest factor next to the contaminants we ingest. We have so many pollutants that work against us so we need nutritious supplements.
Thank you again for getting back to me.
Nancy
9/19/2007 From ME: Nancy,
That’s great and I know you will be very satisfied! Acai has a giant seed. 88-90% of the berry is seed and it is not used at all, totally discarded. The similarity between a red grape and acai is in the high polyphenol content in the skins.
Mona Vie, as a quick example, contains: banana puree, white grape juice from concentrate, apricot juice from concentrate, and pear puree. I know those fruits taste good (and as with most fruits and vegetables contain potassium) but I’ve never read, ever, where any of them have been used for specific therapeutic purposes. For the most part they help you get you daily serving of fruits.
Our 5 fruits all have peer reviewed journal articles in which they are referenced and all of them have a long track record in holistic medicine.
E-mail me any time and it was a pleasure to share thoughts and ideas with you.
Sincerely,
Marcus Ettinger DC, BSc.
Primary Orthostatic Tremor

Question: Hello,
Have you heard of this condition and if there is anything that can be done or taken to relieve this condition?
Thank you,
Maribet
Answer: Maribet,
I have but the hard part is that I would need to do an exam, consultation, and possible labs to be of any help. Here are a couple of suggestions that may be of some help or at the least they will make you healthier. Follow a gluten free diet. Tons of information can be found on the net and at book stores. Ask your MD if it’s ok for you to take some Magnesium Aspartate (around 400-600mg’s) a day. The average American is, in my opinion very magnesium deficient and could benefit from supplementation. Flax seed oil, same concept but in omega 3’s.

Thank you very much indeed for the time you have given me.
Please reply as soon as possible.

I really couldn’t answer that question with any confidence either way, I am sorry. I tried to find (yes or no) data and I couldn’t. I am sending you my cancer file.

Can oils, coffee, or tea make me break-out? They seem to effect me that way.
August 3, 2007 by Dr. Marcus Ettinger
Filed under Dr. E's Health Programs, Dr. Ettinger's Thoughts, Health Conditions
Question:
During my change of life; menopause (I am 48) my skin started to break out. After much observation I have come to the conclusion it is mainly caused by oils, but I don’t understand why.
If I eat nuts, or use any kind of oil in my salad or drink coffee or tea, my skin breaks out. I used to practically live on tea and never had a single blemish; but now I break out if I drink even 1 cup of tea; the same with nuts and oils.
The question I have: Is it possible that if I took digestive enzymes it would help my body to process these oils? Does Lecithin contain oil? I’ve noticed that it also makes me break out.
I have noticed that after I drink coffee or tea my skin is oilier an hour or so later, so I’m guessing the oils are coming out my skin instead of being digested properly. I’m no expert, but I know what I see after consuming these things. Some people say there is no oil in tea, but I can see a film of oil floating on the top from time to time, so there must be oil of some kind in it.
Why the change and what can I do to fix it? I rarely drink coffee or tea, so giving them up isn’t a problem, but it would be nice to not have to worry about this if I did want to enjoy a cup of tea now and then.
I read recently that walnuts are even better for you than olive oil, so I don’t really want to give up these nuts or the lecithin since it’s so good for me; unless of course there’s no other alternative.
I am 5’3 & 105 lbs. I run the treadmill and alternate with Kathy Smith, Gilad and Jane Fonda, as well as the WestPoint Academy’s dumbbell exercises for strength training.
P.S. Do you know anything about skin care on the outside? If so, what in your opinion is the best facial cleanser & moisturizer to use? Judy Lindberg (author of Aging Without Growing Old) swears by Jojoba oil; your thoughts?
Thank you, Linda
Response:
Linda,
Lots of stuff here. I doubt an e-mail will do this justice because of the amount of text I would have to write.
Simplified version:
Lecithin contains choline which helps to metabolize oils. It’s a very good thing.
Digestive enzymes like our Super Power Enzymes help to metabolize fats/oils. Again, a very good thing.
Almonds are the best nuts (only alkaline nut). Walnuts contain the exact same fats as flax seeds (flax seed oil). Olive oil is a different type of fat all together.
I also own a Med Spa, so I deal with skin on a daily basis. The products I am listing are not cheap but are the best money can buy. They are medicines for the skin not just pretty smelling, froufrou products. They are anti-aging, wrinkle reducing/prevention, UVA & UVB blocking, collagen & elastin forming, gentle, natural, and what I and my wife use. I am 43 and I feel I have good looking skin, especially since I have spent my whole life in the sun, surfing, boating at the river, and in the desert racing motorcycles. (Picture)
C-E-Ferulic acid ($128.00), Niadyne ($85.00) and Ultimate Sun Block ($35.00), and Gentle Cleanser ($28.00). All products will last about 2 months or a little longer. (links were removed for the blog)
Acne is an internal problem that manifests itself on the outside of the body. It can be hormonal, digestive, and/or nutritionally related. Psyllium hush powder and probiotics are good for the colon. Eliminate all dairy products. 2 quarts of water daily, no caffeine, and pumpkin seeds (natural zinc) are all great for the skin.
Let me know how it goes.

Should Acai Be Freez Dried?
April 16, 2007 by Dr. Marcus Ettinger
Filed under Acai (Euterpe oleracea), Therapy Juices (Super Food Juices)
Question: Had a question? I have been reading other site and they all say that the acai should be freeze dried within 24 hours or the product degrades and that only the powder or freeze dried is the best as in retaining all the nutrients’. Is this true and how dose your company get the acai berries. Thank you
Answer: Ernest,
Everyone obtains the berries the same way as there is only one way. Whether it is freeze dried, juiced, or pureed, as long as it is away from oxygen is all that matters. It is a fruit just like oranges or apples and needs the exact same treatment, no more – no less. Any special preparation method listed is merely hype.
It is more about the blend than anything else. Do you want a celery salad or a mixed salad with micro-greens? We are all about the synergy of blends. Every fruit in our Mangosteen Elixir, Acai Max, and Goji Fusion it there for a reason and taste isn’t the first one (though they all taste great).
Lastly, see if you get the same or any response for the other guys.
I hope this helps.

Pomegranate Concentrate and the Prostate
March 13, 2007 by Dr. Marcus Ettinger
Filed under Health Conditions, Therapy Juices (Super Food Juices)
Question: I read an article that said drinking 8 oz of pure 100% Pomegranate Juice per/day helps with slowing down the possible recurrence of prostate cancer. My question is, if using the Pomegranate Concentrate where it is 1 to 2 Tbsp, how does that compare/transfer? Do I mix it with water? Can I put it in other juice? Does this constitute 8 oz?
Thank you
Teri P.
Answer: Dear Teri,
Our concentrate is 15:1, so 2 tablespoons will be about equal to two 8oz glasses of juice. Yes, you can mix it with juice or water.

Marcus Ettinger DC, BSc.
